One of the nation's 13 Top Secret Nuclear Weapons Storage and Modification sites, Clarksville Base - better known as "The Birdcage" - is a 2,500 acre facility housing 28 underground structures and architecture unique to the Cold War. The compound operated far from wide public knowledge from from 1948-1965 and has since become a Cold War Historic District.
