History on Tap:

  • Hopkinsville Brewing Company 102 East 5th Street Hopkinsville, KY, 42240 (map)

The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County invites you to our next History on Tap on Thursday, August 27 at 6:30pm at Hopkinsville Brewing Company. Museum Director Alissa Keller will present “From Hoptown to Hollywood: Gant Gaither’s Life & Art.”

After graduating from Hopkinsville High School, this son of a local surgeon studied abroad, opened a theater in Miami, worked as a producer in Broadway and Hollywood, and became great friends with celebrities like Grace Kelly. He settled in the resort community of Palm Springs in the 1960s where he established himself as an artist. His whimsical designs featured animals of all kinds and were used as designs for textiles and home interior products.

In 2023, the Museum received a large donation of archives and photographs from a resident of Palm Springs, California. This gentleman and his wife had purchased the former home of Gant Gaither, and these materials had been left behind. In this program, Keller will explore the life of Gant Gaither, one of the most creative souls ever to come out of Hopkinsville, through the materials he left behind.

The Museum’s annual gala on Friday, September 18 will also celebrate the life and art of Gant Gaither. Two tickets to the gala will be given away at History on Tap. You don’t want to miss it!
