Fridays@5 Rolls Out June 23rd with Gil Gann Trio

After a highly popular 2016 debut, the Fridays@5/Sounds on the Square series rolls back into downtown Hopkinsville starting Friday, June 23.  The Gil Gann Trio performs from 5-9 pm at Founders Square, sharing free music with a Louisiana blues influence that churns a unique mix of jazz, rock, reggae and funk.

Food trucks from D’s Barbecue and Old Soldier Soup and Sandwich will provide dining variety during the evening, along with Tangy Roots frozen yogurt.  The beverage tent is being run as a fundraiser for the Pennyroyal Arts Council.

“Fridays@5 was a big hit last year and we are excited to be working with Downtown Renaissance again this summer to continue the trend of more events and more people converging on downtown Hoptown,” said Parks and Recreation Superintendent, Tab Brockman.  “We’ve got a great lineup of talent for the summer.  In fact, our motto is Friday’s never sounded so good!  So, bring your tastes for music, food and beverage - along with your lawn chairs - downtown for outstanding Friday evenings at Fridays@5.”

Downtown Renaissance Director, Holly Boggess, echoed the enthusiasm for Round 2 of Fridays@5.

“Downtown Renaissance is always eager to partner with the organizations involved in bringing folks downtown and we enjoy working with Parks and Recreation.  The entertainment lineup is outstanding and the opportunity enjoy music, food and fun is wonderful.  This is just another chapter in the growing story of great things happening in Hopkinsville.”

The complete lineup of Fridays@5 events and featured entertainment is:  June 23 – Gil Gann Trio; July 28 – Murr-Vegas All-Stars (pop, dance); August 18 – Jimmy Church Band (part of Summer Salute); September 15 – Badgett Playhouse presents “Sounds of Memphis” (think Branson, MO Show).  All events are free with food and beverage offerings available for purchase.
