Addisson Grimm comes to us from Evansville, Indiana, where he worked as an avid performer and educator in the tri-state area. Some of Mr. Grimm’s recent experience involves serving as Professor of Trumpet and Jazz studies at the University of Evansville (sabbatical replacement), Professor of Brass and Jazz studies at Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana, and Professor of Trumpet at Kentucky Wesleyan College where he will continue to teach his trumpet students on occasion. In addition to the many students, he has taught at the collegiate level, Mr. Grimm has worked as a private instructor and marching band technician for many local middle school and high school programs such as Castle High/Middle School, Harrison High School, Reitz High School, and Hopkinsville High School. Mr. Grimm frequently subs for the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra and the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra. He performed with the Evansville Symphonic Band, River Brass based out of Newburgh, Indiana, and was also a consistent freelancer for weddings, musicals, and many other venues. Mr. Grimm is originally from Madisonville, where he graduated from Madisonville North Hopkins High School in 2008. From there, Mr. Grimm would move on to receive his Bachelors of Music degree from Murray State University in 2014, and receive his Masters of Music in Trumpet Performance degree from the University of Louisville in 2016. While studying at the collegiate level, Mr. Grimm was an active performer on the regional, state, and national stage. Some of these performances consisted of: featured ensemble (Murray State Wind Ensemble) at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., featured ensemble (Louisville Wind Symphony) at the WASBE conference in San Jose, California, competitive ensemble (Murray State Jazz Ensemble) at the Elmhurst Jazz Festival in Chicago, Illinois, principal trumpet of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Orchestra at the Kentucky Music Educators Conference (KMEA) in Louisville, and a semi-finalist at the National Trumpet Competition in Fairfax, Virginia.
