Live Music - Rick Ryan

Rick Ryman is a Singer/Songwriter in Nashville, Tennessee who writes about life and sings from the heart. He is a Country/Americana music performer. His style of country music is enjoyed by many who follow country music and to those outside of country music. What’s appealing about his music is his creative writing and simple melodies. They are songs that are relatable to the Truck Driver and the everyday Blue Collar worker, along with the ordinary music lover. Simply put, fun music.

Rick grew up in a small town of New Baltimore, Ohio, just Northwest of Cincinnati in Southwestern Ohio. It’s a small river town where he grew up listening to all kinds of music, but took a love for country music. His music is based on his three major singer/songwriter influences, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, and David Allan Coe. Many will tell you that they can hear the musical influences in the songs he writes.

Rick is an Air Force Veteran, Truck Driver, and former Radio Air Personality. He has taken many of his life’s experiences, from the trucking and Blue Collar situations, and put them to a song. I can’t say that he speaks for the workin’ man, but he sure does share a voice with them. And, who hasn’t had their heart broken and wanted to hear a crying in your beer song? Ryman has his own unique twist on slow, sad, ballads that leaves the listener wanting more.

  • Hopkinsville Brewing Company (map)

Louisville-based country-blues artist Andy Branton cut his teeth playing guitar in country and rock & roll bands around the West Alabama bar scene. After years of collecting stories and songs while driving up and down Alabama’s highways and dirt roads, he self-released his debut EP 47 Minutes Away in late 2018.

Andy assembled a crack team of Birmingham, Alabama’s finest musicians - including Adrian Marmolejo of Early James & the Latest (Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound) and Les Nuby formerly of Verbena (Capitol Records) - to commit his songs to tape. The band worked its magic, cranking out the tunes in just one 8-hour session.

The namesake of the EP is an up-tempo, country-rock scorcher about coming home to Little Rock, Arkansas after being on the road for weeks. It heavily features Ford Boswell (Early James & the Latest) on pedal steel and Daniel Raine (Little Raine Band) on piano and harmonica.

Nick’s southern, soulful contemporary sound comes from a hybrid of family, friends and church. Loganville, Georgia’s hometown native first got the songwriting itch at 13 through a church high school youth pastor by the name of Mark Hall, who later became the Grammy and Dove Award winning lead singer for Casting Crowns. At just 8 years old, Nick received his first guitar for Christmas, and remember’s wildly strumming along as his PawPaw would play Christmas carols for the family. Nick’s PawPaw was the lead singer of a country band called Jimmy Haynes and The Travelers during the late 60’s/early 70’s. His grandfather rubbed shoulders with the likes of Vern Gosdin, Charlie Pride and other foundational country music artists that paved the way for many today. This Georgia boy paid his dues in original and cover bands throughout college, and later as part of the duo Hamrick & Haynes. They made traction in the Georgia music scene from 2017-2019 before making the move to Nashville. Now as a solo artist, Nick is hard wired to draw from an overflowing source of inspiration and motivation. His life experiences have evolved and matured to eventually turn pain into purpose and encourage people to “light a candle” instead of “cursing the darkness”. His songs leave you wanting to make peace with the past, and look for the miracle of tomorrow. Every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future.

Live Music - Amelia Ransom

Not everyone can say they have always known what they wanted to do with their life, but that is exactly the case for me. My immediate and extended family includes a vast number of musicians, so I was lucky to be constantly immersed in music from the time I was born. My passion for music truly began at the age of three when I was inspired to learn the violin by watching my sister at her violin lessons. My mom ensured I had a foundation in classical music, so my youth was consumed with hours of lessons, practicing, group classes, quartet rehearsals, orchestra rehearsals, performance classes, etc.
After studying classical violin for about five years, I saw a PBS special about bluegrass music, which introduced me to a world outside of the classical studies that consumed me. The show included performances by Alison Krauss, Ricky Skaggs, Del McCoury, Nickel Creek, and so many other amazing musicians. Although I continued with rigorous classical instruction through the end of high school, bluegrass and folk music quickly became my passion, and within a few years I had added mandolin, guitar, and many other instruments to my “arsenal.” I had the opportunity to attend Mark O’Connor’s string camp in California when I was about 14, which opened my access to alternative styles even more. At this point I was recording and touring in a folk/bluegrass/americana/roots (etc.) band with my brother and sister, and my desire to be a professional musician continued to grow stronger every time I stepped on stage. Somewhere in the mix, around the age of 10, I also started to write music which is an interest that has continued to grow and develop with time.
Fast forward to present day–I am now 25 years old, living in Nashville, TN where I split my time between touring/recording (in the same band with my brother and sister), working in the “biz” on Music Row, and hiring out for gigs/sessions with other artists in Music City. Being a professional musician is not always easy, but for me it is something that I can’t live without. Music chose me, and I consider myself fortunate to pursue a career I adore so much.
